WV WIC Approved Food List
          How is the West Virginia WIC Food List determined?
          The WV Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants 
          and Children (WIC) Approved Food List is evaluated and updated once 
          every two years by a Food Product Review Committee. The committee 
          consists at a minimum of the State Agency Nutrition Education 
          Coordinator, the State Agency Vendor Management Coordinator, a Local 
          Agency nutritionist, and a Local Agency vendor liaison.
          Federal Regulations for WIC outline minimum requirements for foods 
          to be included on the WIC-Approved Food List. WV WIC has established 
          additional standards to further define allowable foods. 
          A reasonable number of alternative choices of all eligible products 
          are offered. WV WIC reserves the right to limit the number of food 
          items within the food categories. Meeting the criteria for the 
          WIC-Approved Food List does not guarantee inclusion on the food list.
          The WV WIC-Approved Food List was recently 
          revised and will become effective on May 1, 2007.
