Professional
Development
Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (IDEA), requires
participating states to establish personnel standards to assure persons providing
early intervention services are adequately trained and prepared to meet the unique
needs of eligible infants and toddlers and their families. You may have even
reviewed our WVBTT Personal Standards prior to enrolling as a practitioner.
WV Birth to Three Regional Technical Assistant (TA) Specialists are available to
assist you with questions about policy and procedures, training, documentation
requirements or other questions as they arise.
WVBTT has a relationship with the WV State Training and Registry System
(WVSTARS) to provide training for WVBTT practitioners. Members of our
Professional Development Team work together to develop training designed
especially for WVBTT practitioners to help understand the processes for WVBTT.
There is also an opportunity to participate in other trainings that meet the core
competencies for the program.
As a new practitioner, you also have the opportunity to work with a mentor. A
mentor can provide you with one-on-one support and guidance as you begin your
journey with WVBTT. Contact your TA Specialist if this is of interest to you.
Each practitioner is required to complete professional development annually.
Please visit the WV Practitioner Service Directory Practitioner Information for more
information.
