03/29/2021 - AUTISM AWARENESS-40-TOP - As April is Autism Awareness Month, we invite you to join the Alliance for the Economic Development of Southern West Virginia for an educational session on Autism Resources in WV, as part of the state-renowned 40 TOP Virtual Series. More than 1,600 West Virginians have participated in these educational sessions since April 2020.

03/25/2021 - Each year as part of the reporting requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), children and youth who are deaf blind must be counted. For infants and toddlers receiving Part C early intervention services, deaf blindness is defines as: "Concomitant hearing and vision impairments or delays, the combination of which causes such severe communication and other developmental and intervention needs that specialized early intervention services are needed."

Review and complete the attached form. Submission due by 4/7/2021.


03/16/2021 - WV DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES COUNCIL (WVDDC)

Partners in Policymaking train West Virginians with developmental disabilities and parents of young children with developmental disabilities to become effective advocates for policies and programs affecting people with developmental disabilities.

If interested, complete application and submit by June 30, 2021.

03/08/2021 - Gallaudet University - Regional Center West - Research Study Language Awareness in Deaf Children (Flyer)

Gallaudet University researcher, Shane Blau, is still looking for families of infants born deaf to participate in this data collection project. He will begin working on his analysis this fall. Parents, if you would like to know more or to participate in this project, visit Parent Connection – a forum for parents with young deaf children.
