Mission Statement
To provide low-income, under or uninsured women, aged 40 to 64
years with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to improve
diet, physical activity, and other lifestyle behaviors to
prevent, delay and control cardiovascular and other chronic
diseases.

The West Virginia WISEWOMAN program helps West Virginia
women with little or no insurance gain access to FREE
screenings for heart disease and lifestyle interventions
that can reduce their risk for heart disease and many
other chronic diseases.

e lifestyle intervention teaches women how to eat
healthy, increase physical activity, and how to set and
achieve goals appropriate to their lifestyle.

The West Virginia WISEWOMAN program is funded by the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In
order to participate in WISEWOMAN, you must be enrolled
in the West Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer
Screening Program (WVBCCSP).
