About the Coalition

• Established in 1993 to address the increase in sedentary lifestyles of state residents
• Provide a platform to support Healthy People 2000/2010 Objectives
• Supports local,state and national initiatives
• Affiliated with the National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity
• Membership includes representation from: public health, higher education, schools, worksites, health care, communities, and interested individuals
• Sponsored by the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health
