LEVEL SCHOOLS HEALTH CARE SETTINGS (HCS) WORKPLACE BROADER COMMUNITY
AWARENESS

(Informs the public about health issues, concerns, and/or solutions)

*Distribute brochures, fliers, etc.

*Display tobacco-free billboard messages

*Provide signs, pamphlets, brochures, etc., in patient waiting areas *Encourage employers to ban all tobacco advertising in their place of employment *Fund and organize artistic, cultural, and physical activity events with a pro-health message

* Provide informative signs in schools about the tobacco industry’s targeting of youth *Encourage health care providers to educate patients on the tobacco industry’s advertising tactics   *Focus PSA’s on social, political, and environmental change rather than personal behavior

*Implement trade-in program for tobacco-related T-shirts, hats, etc.

*Provide pro-health replacements for teens

REGULATIONS

(Establishes and enforces policies and/or laws that promote healthy behaviors)

*Restrict tobacco advertising within 1,000 feet of schools

*Prohibit advertising in places where children congregate

*Prohibit tobacco apparel on school property

    *Require free counter advertisements to balance tobacco advertising on public property, including public transportation, sports facilities, and taxes

*Prohibit tobacco industry sponsorship

*Prohibit self-service displays for tobacco products
