Effective July 1, 2000, in accordance with House Bill 2388, all birthing facilities in West Virginia will perform, or cause to be performed, a screen for hearing loss prior to discharge. The Right From The Start Program will provide case management and patient education services for the Newborn Hearing Screening Project (NBHS). Designated Care Coordinator agencies that have contracted with OMCFH to provide these services will receive referrals from the Regional Lead Agency.
