Meet our Staff



Earnest Covington is the Executive Director for the Commission. Earnest attended Gallaudet University before he transferred to Michigan State University to obtain a B.A. in History. He has a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Michigan and a Post-Mastersí Graduate Certification in Human Resources Management from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. Prior to joining the Commission, Earnest was the Director for the Communication Access Center for the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint, Michigan. He brings knowledge and skills in leadership, business processes and management.

Earnestís hobbies include: golf, photography, swimming, and sightseeing arts.

Sarah Lowther is the Project Director for the Commission. She attended Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, and hopes to continue her higher education in the future. Prior to working for the Commission, she worked as a technical analyst and customer support specialist. She provided advanced services, such as incident response and escalations operations, as part of a resolution team for major telecommunication, healthcare, and financial advisory companies. She brings analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, along with an enthusiastic desire to help others.

Sarahís hobbies include biking, crafting, video games, everything beauty related, and spending time with family and pets.
