To address the needs and concerns of women and girls in West Virginia, the Women’s Commission encourage research projects that provide a comprehensive understanding of issues affecting 51% of people in the Mountain State. This data is then used as a foundation for outreach efforts and policy development.


Statewide Needs Assessment

The 2009 Assessment Survey showed that safety, equality, and financial issues are the primary concerns of women in West Virginia.

Status of Women and Girls in West Virginia

The Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) conducts rigorous research and disseminates its findings to address the needs of women promote public dialogue, and strengthen families, communities, and societies.
