The West Virginia Women’s Commission is seeking bright,
enthusiastic interns who have a desire to improve the status of women in West
Virginia. Because of budget constraints, our internships are unpaid, but we will
coordinate with the student’s college or university to provide course credit for
these positions. We currently have five positions available. Four positions can
be filled immediately, and one can be filled during spring semester.

Researching government, non-profit, and other agencies and organizations
that provide services to women
Updating Commission databases and organizing Resource Directory into a
more user-friendly format
Establishing and/or continuing lines of communication with government,
non-profit, and other agencies and organizations that provide services to
women
We will be looking to have this position filled by a student in the spring
semester. Responsibilities may include any of the following, or other activities
as we deem necessary and appropriate:

Researching and monitoring state and national legislation that affects
women, and analyzing its impact on women in West Virginia

Coordinating activities with the Commission’s Legislative Consultant
-
Disseminating information about legislation to other organizations,
groups, or individuals interested in legislation affecting women
This position can be filled immediately. Responsibilities may
include any of the following, or other activities as we deem necessary and
appropriate:

Researching potential sources of funding, including grant opportunities
- Grant Writing
This position can be filled immediately. Responsibilities may
include any of the following, or other activities as we deem necessary and
appropriate:

Photographing/videotaping events and creating in digital format that can
be placed on website or print publications
- Converting older media and files into digital format
This position can be filled immediately. Responsibilities may
include any of the following, or other activities as we deem necessary and
appropriate
- Helping to coordinate special events
- Researching and writing articles for The Advocate

Assisting with various office projects as they arise, including help with
any of the other duties listed above
