The National Women’s
Football Association is considering the Charleston area as a site for
a new franchise.
The association, which
has about 35 teams nationally, has scheduled tryouts for Oct. 7, 14
and 28 at the Martin Luther King Community Center from 2 to 5 p.m.
“I can’t promise you
we’ll put a team there,’’ said Debbie Lening, vice president of the
NWFA, “but if there’s enough interest and we can find coaches, we’ll
do it.’’
Players must be 18
and over and are required to pay a one-time $35 tryout fee. They also
must show proof of insurance and proof of identification.
The league begins
play in April and runs through July. |
