The Keyser High varsity
girls played their first volleyball game last night against Hampshire High
School. The Lady Tornado triumphed with a 3 to 1 win, with scores of 25-15
(Keyser), 15-25 (Hampshire), 26-4 (Keyser), 25-19 (Keyser).
Keyser's leading scorer's for the evening were Aushia Beavers, who brought
in 10 points for the Lady Tornado, and had 14 kills, 11 assists, and seven
saves; Megan Webb, with nine points, four kills, six assists, and three
saves; Chasiti Foster, with nine points, 4 assists, and one save; and
Amber Bowman with 13 points.
For Hampshire, Julianne Buckley netted 23 kills, Cali Alkire scored eight
points, Amber groves assisted with 17 digs, Lesley Swisher had five
blocks, and Katelyn Parsons made 12 assists.
The junior varsity girls
also won against Hampshire with two games to one, with scores of
25-21(Keyser), 21-25 (Hampshire), and 25-17 (Keyser). For Keyser's girls,
Gabrielle Bartlett scored seven points and had one kill, Cindy Ellifritz
scored eight points and have four kills, Tyler Minney scored 11 points and
had five assists, and Matraca Shirley had seven kills and two assists.
The Lady Tornado will play again on Wednesday, September 6, at Southern
High School.
