Celebrate Women Awards

Purpose: The Celebrate Women Awards allow us to recognize and honor West Virginia women who have participated in shaping the state or the nation and who are role models as women achievers for tomorrow’s female leaders.
Eligibility: Nominees must be current residents of the state or, if deceased, must have been residents of the state at the time of death. An organization or individual may submit only one nominee per category. Nominations are encouraged from a broad range of fields and geographical areas.  Nomination forms will not be carried over from previous submissions to the West Virginia Celebrate Women Awards, but resubmissions are encouraged.
Categories: Arts – Refers to any woman who is involved in fine arts, folk arts, arts administration, etc. (i.e. musicians, painters, dancers, quilters, philanthropists)

Business – Refers to any woman who is involved in business (i.e. entrepreneurs, executives, managers)

Education – Refers to any woman who is involved in education, from preschool to post-secondary to technical, etc. (i.e. teachers, professors, school administrators, mentors)

Government – Refers to any woman serving in a public office, elected, appointed, etc. (i.e. department secretaries, county commissioners, Senators, Delegates, Representatives)

Labor – Refers to any woman involved in unions or working in a non-traditional career field (i.e. plumbers, carpenters, miners, union organizers)

Math/Science – Refers to any woman working in a math-or science-related field (i.e. engineers, lab technicians, ecologists, computer technicians, architects)

Mountaineer Spirit – Refers to any woman who exemplifies the independent, hard-working spirit of the Mountain State, or who works to make our state a better place to live

Professions – Refers to any woman who works in a professional field (i.e. doctors, lawyers, counselors, therapists, public relations specialists, journalists)

Public Service – Refers to any woman who works or volunteers in the areas of civil rights and advocacy, for any public cause (i.e. persons with disabilities, persons of color, children)

Sports – Refers to any woman who is an athlete or coach or who works in the field of sports (i.e. runner, yoga teacher, soccer player, basketball coach, sports journalist, umpire)

Unsung Hero – Refers to any woman who is a “hero” to someone and/or who has accomplished great things quietly and without recognition

Volunteer Service – Refers to any woman who serves as a volunteer (works without pay), whether individually or as part of an organization
