Right From The Start

Having a new baby can be one of the most rewarding times of your life, but it can also be one of the most challenging. Having someone to talk to during your pregnancy and/or after you have your baby can make this time easier.  You can have a local community nurse or social worker, called a "care coordinator", meet with you while you are pregnant to help you learn ways to have a healthy pregnancy. The care coordinator can help you find resources in your community to help with your needs.

WV Head Start

The WV Head Start Collaboration Office (HSSCO) is charged with facilitating and enhancing coordination and collaboration between Head Start/Early Head Start agencies and other state and local entities that provide comprehensive services designed to benefit low-income children from birth to age five and their families, as well as pregnant women.

WV Healthy Start/HAPI Project (Helping Appalachian Parents and Infants)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established to advance the health and well being of the women of West Virginia and surrounding Region. We accomplish this by supporting the programmatic initiatives of our faculty and staff in the areas of patient care, education and research. We are committed to providing quality health care services to all women, educating health care providers, and conducting research to advance our understanding of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

WV Partners

Partners in Community Outreach is a coalition of West Virginia research-based In-Home Family Education programs. The vision of Partners in Community Outreach is that every West Virginia family from pregnancy until children are at least three years of age has the opportunity to participate in a high-quality In-Home Family Education program in their local community.

What is In-Home Family Education?

Being a parent is a tough job.  All parents can use a little bit of help to raise happy and healthy children. In-Home Family Education is a program that provides this help to families with young children in their home. You can participate at no cost, and the staff will come to your home or wherever you feel most comfortable. In-Home Family Education provides caring and supportive programs to families in almost half of all West Virginia counties. The goal is to improve child health, increase school readiness and give you the information and support you need to make parenting decisions.
