Determine the impact a pandemic would have on your business and develop an emergency plan.

running. Two backups are needed for each essential position. Plan and
train accordingly.

What can communities do to prepare for pandemic flu?
Communities should continue to develop and implement existing emergency plans
though groups such as Local Emergency Planning Councils, local Office of
Emergency Services, local health departments, etc.

Communities should plan to maintain basic services (fire, ambulance,
hospitals, utilities, etc.) without outside help.
- Address closure of schools and businesses.>

Identify special needs populations and unique features of the
community. Devise ways to accommodate these.

What can individuals do to prepare for pandemic flu?
Preparing and staying informed about pandemic flu are the best
responses for individuals.

Stay informed though the news media and/or the Internet. Information
will be provided to the public on a continual basis.

Develop a family preparedness plan that addresses school closings,
travel limitations and emergency contacts. Prepare a disaster supply
kit for home, work and vehicles.

People should anticipate that daily life could change and activities
could be curtailed. If you are able, seek volunteer opportunities in
your community to help with emergency response.
