CODA Scholarship Announcement
The Millie Brother Scholarship
CODA International is privileged to announce two $1500.00 scholarships to be awarded
for the fall of 2000. These scholarships are provided through a fund which has been
established to assist hearing children of deaf parents to pursue post secondary
educational opportunities.
$1500.00 (each)
TWO SCHOLARSHIPS
for 1999-2000
Requirements
- Applicants must be a high school graduate by the
summer of 2000.
- Applicants must be the hearing son or daughter of
deaf parents.
- Each applicant must submit:
- an official transcript from their high school,
- two letters of recommendation, and
- a typed two page essay.
- Essays must be submitted describing the applicant's
Coda experience and how it has shaped the Coda as an individual. The essay
should include a description of future career aspirations. Each essay will
be judged for organization, content, creativity, and a sense of purpose.
- Applicants may compete for both scholarships but a
separate essay is required for each submission.
- Deadline for submission: All applications must be completed
and postmarked by
May 5, 2000.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail.
- Scholarship winners' essays will be published in the CODA Connection, the organization's
newsletter.
