The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a United States federal law that was signed into law by President George H. W. Bush in 1990 and had significant amendments in 2004. IDEA regulates how states and public agencies provide educational related services to children ages 0 - 21 who have been diagnosed with a disability.
