Advocacy Services
Legal Aid of West Virginia's Behavioral Health Advocacy Project provides advocacy services to individuals across the Mountain State who live with behavioral health challenges. One location where individuals receive intensive advocacy is at William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital.
Two full-time behavioral health advocates and a secretary serve patient needs in a variety of individualized and systemic ways, including advocacy on their behalf at Treatment Team Staffings, providing patients information regarding their rights, providing Patient Rights Training to Sharpe Hospital staff, assisting patients with the grievance procedure and investigating abuse and neglect allegations.
