Public Health Sanitation Division

Responsible for developing, administering, and implementing a statewide program designed and dedicated to the eradication, control, and constant improvement of environmental and public health sanitation factors that may, through direct or indirect causes, adversely affect the health and well-being of people.

New Information:

  • The recent Legislative session resulted in the passage of a new Food Establishment Rule, and new Water Well Regulations and Design Standards.  For information about training opportunities on these changes please visit our In-Service Training page.  For more on the changes themselves, visit the program pages.

  • There is a Registered Sanitarian PES Exam scheduled for June 12th, to be administered at the Office of Environmental Health Services in Charleston.  Interested Sanitarians-In-Training must contact David Thornton (558-6783) to sign up by May 27th.

  • CDC has issued new guidance to Recreational Water Facilities on managing fecal accidents in the water.  This guidance is only a recommendation, and is not a regulatory requirement in WV at this time, but does represent best management practice for swimmer health.
