Civil Rights Compliance
Office
The Civil Rights
Compliance Office assures that the DHHR meets the requirements of Titles VI and
VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and related federal regulations. Tasks include:

Handling intra-agency
complaints alleging discrimination;
-
Training and
disseminating educational materials to agency staff, beneficiaries, vendors
and interested members of the general public;

Conducting on-site and
written Civil Rights compliance reviews;
-
Tracking incidental
data and compiling related reports;
-
Acting as a liaison
between the DHHR and the federal Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)
Office of Civil Rights, and between DHHR and minority groups concerned with
the delivery of services; and
-
Informing employees
and recipients of state/federal assistance and services of complaint
procedures, and individual rights implicated by perceived unfair or
inequitable treatment.
