But isn’t everybody doing it?

That’s what some people believe but that’s not true. Sixty percent (60%) of kids 16 and under have not had sex. The statistics vary when you talk about teens in their senior year of high school, but the percent of kids who have not had sex ranges from forty percent (40%) to fifty percent (50%). And half the kids who have done it once are not doing it regularly. Most kids who have sex as teens don’t have more than one or two partners.

So where do we get these statistics? From teenagers. You folks tend to tell us the truth when you know it’s safe to talk to us. And we keep getting pretty much the same numbers from you so we put some faith in them.

So what do all these statistics mean to you? That you will not be alone if you choose to abstain from sex. That you will have a lot of company. That it is possible to resist the temptations and stay healthy.

Even if you have had sex, that doesn’t mean you have to continue doing it. Ever heard of secondary virginity? That means you made a choice that you don’t want to make again. People who choose secondary virginity start practicing abstinence again; they quit having sex. Secondary virgins tried having sex and found out it wasn’t all that.
