WV Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program

Provides information about Antibiotic Resistance,
the GET SMART Program - Know When Antibiotics Work, and

Right
from the Start
Provides
comprehensive maternity care for women whose income is
at or below 185% of the federal poverty level.
Adolescent
Health Initiative
Creates
awareness of the need for young persons between the ages
of 10 and 17 to be provided routine health services.
Abstinence
Only Education Project
Provides
abstinence education through eight community-based
grantees who work with schools and local organizations
to promote the "abstinence only" message.
Breast
and Cervical Cancer Screening Program
Promotes
early detection of breast and cervical cancer through
screening, follow-up services and education to low
income families.
Children's
Dentistry Project
Promotes
dental health services as an integral part of
preventive, primary health services for low
incomes at or below 150% of the federal poverty level.
Birth
to Three (Early Intervention Program)
Provides
therapeutic and educational services for children age
0-3 years and their families who have established,
diagnosed handicaps, developmental delays, or are at
risk due to biological factors.
Children
with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN)
Refers
children with special health care needs to health and
social service programs.
Family
Planning Program
Assists
individuals at or below 250% of the poverty level in
making choices regarding the number and spacing of their
children in order to reduce infant morbidity and
mortality and to improve women's health.
