Why should I take my child to the doctor for check-ups when my child isn't even sick?

Healthy looking children can have medical problems that only a trained medical professional can find. Regular check ups catch illness early, when it is most treatable.

If my child must have a Medicaid card to be eligible for HealthCheck services, how do I get a Medicaid card for my child?

Go to your local office of the WV Department of Health and Human Resources and apply or call 1-800-642-9704. If your child is eligible, he/she will be issued a Medicaid card and will be eligible for all HealthCheck services.

 

Once I get a Medicaid card for my child, how do I enroll in the HealthCheck program?

There are two ways to begin receiving HealthCheck services:

  • All new Medicaid card holders are contacted by letter by the HealthCheck Program to encourage participation and provide information.

  • You can call: 1-800-642-9704

What if I'm not eligible for a Medicaid card but my child is and has a card?

Your child is eligible for all HealthCheck services.

 

How is my child connected to a local doctor?

Once you are contacted or your contact us, you are given a list of medical professionals in your area who are enrolled in the HealthCheck program. you may select from the list.

Do I have to pay anything for these doctor's visits like co-pays, deductibles?

No. There is no cost for any HealthCheck services.

What if I don't have a car or can't afford transportation to get my child to the doctor?

The HealthCheck program offers transportation reimbursement when your child goes for any HealthCheck services.
