The State's 5 year Needs Assessment that was completed in December 2000 identified the following priorities.  These were determined by using the previously mentioned performance measures and indicators as well as :

  1. Reduce the number of unintended pregnancies
  2. Reduce the number of women smoking during pregnancy
  3. Increase the number of women receiving first trimester prenatal care who are covered by Medicaid
  4. Reduce the State's infant mortality rate
  5. Increase the number of eligible children receiving EPSDT/HealthCheck screens who participate in a full complement of services
  6. Increase the number of age appropriate children screened for blood lead levels
  7. Identify children at birth who have conditions which can lead to adverse health outcomes and ensure appropriate medical care
  8. Increase consumer/patient involvement in OMCFH programs
  9. Reduce the incidence rate (per 100,000) of females aged 15 to 19 years diagnosed with Chlamydia
  10. Increase the number of women 18 years of age or older receiving PAP Smears within the preceding three years
