The State's 5 year Needs Assessment that was completed in
December 2000 identified the following priorities. These were determined
by using the previously mentioned performance measures and indicators as well as
:
- Public, community, and provider reviews
- Public forums
- Surveys completed by non-Bureau for Public Health entities
- Data

- Reduce the number of unintended pregnancies
- Reduce the number of women smoking during pregnancy
- Increase the number of women receiving first trimester prenatal care who
are covered by Medicaid
- Reduce the State's infant mortality rate
- Increase the number of eligible children receiving EPSDT/HealthCheck
screens who participate in a full complement of services
- Increase the number of age appropriate children screened for blood lead
levels
- Identify children at birth who have conditions which can lead to adverse
health outcomes and ensure appropriate medical care
- Increase consumer/patient involvement in OMCFH programs
- Reduce the incidence rate (per 100,000) of females aged 15 to 19 years
diagnosed with Chlamydia
- Increase the number of women 18 years of age or older receiving PAP Smears
within the preceding three years
