Human Trafficking: A Family Planning Perspective (recorded audio conference) - Human trafficking is the buying, selling or transporting of human beings for forced labor or sexual exploitation without their consent. It deprives people of their human rights and freedoms and presents a global health risk. The US Department of State’s Trafficking in Persons Report 2006, estimated that 14,500 to 17,500 people, primarily women and children, are trafficked to the United States annually. In an effort to increase family planning providers’ knowledge about human trafficking, the Family Planning Regional Training Centers are sponsoring this audio conference. During this audio conference, participants will hear from national experts in the field of human trafficking, learn how to identify patients who are being trafficked and will be given opportunities to ask questions.
