Who can be a Health Care Consultant (HCC) ?
HCCs
are licensed health professionals with experience in early childhood
issues. They include doctors, physician assistants, dentists, nurses,
nurse practitioners and nutritionists/dieticians.
What do Health Care Consultants do? HCCs provide early childhood programs with consultation and technical assistance on health and safety issues. Each HCC is linked with one or more early childhood programs. A relationship develops based on needs of both parties. HCCs’ activities include:
"It is often easiest to think of the center as your patient. You don’t provide information on a specific child, but on how a particular problem may impact the rest of the children and the staff. " -Judy Romano, MD, FAAP & Chair of the WV AAP Child Care Committee Making the Connection Regional HealthCheck Program Specialists recruit and enroll HCCs. HCCs are linked to early childhood programs by ECHP staff. For additional information on how you can become involved, please contact your
