TRAILS is a mobile resource program designed to improve the quality and availability of child care services in West Virginia.

The TRAILS van is stocked with wonderful developmentally appropriate toys, games and resources - all for the enjoyment of your day care children and you! You can check out the resources on the van just like you would check out a book at the library, with the added benefit that you don't even have to leave home - the TRAILS Van comes to you! The TRAILS Van has:

Developmentally appropriate toys, games and books for the use of children in family day care homes, centers, and facilities.

A wide range of training resources (books and videos) to enhance the professional development of child care providers and staff of Child Care Centers and Facilities .

Assistive technology for children with special needs.

What's the catch? You must be a child care provider residing in either Kanawha, Jackson, Clay or Roane Counties in West Virginia. Other than that, there isn't one - use of the TRAILS Van is free! Just call us and make an appointment for TRAILS to come to your home You can check out resources for two weeks at a time, or longer by special arrangement. We all know how expensive quality child care resources are -TRAILS is a great way to try it before you buy it.

TRAILS is also staffed by people with experience in the early childhood field who can advise you on which toys are best for what age group, how to use the resources on the TRAILS Van, and can provide training on various topics.

Connect CCR&R has purchased a new TRAILS Van!

Child care providers deserve the best. With the work they do, it is often difficult to provide quality materials on a rotating basis that will keep children actively engaged and stimulated. The Connect TRAILS van is one way to meet that need. Recently, Connect purchased a brand new state of the art cargo van to take various materials – toys, books, games, teacher resources, craft supplies – to the front door of any provider desiring the service. The van is equipped with storage shelves that hold materials for children birth through age twelve. Providers simply check the materials out and the van returns for pick up and material swapping in about a month. It’s that simple and with a new van that can go almost anywhere, providers can expect the best!
