School clothing allowance distribution set for July 6th - 9th
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources
completed a health consultation for private well water sites in the
Williamson area of Mingo County. The report concluded that the amount of
sodium and lead found in some of this water could pose a public health
hazard to people who ingest the water, even if it was used only for cooking.
The report is available for public review at the Williamson Public Library,
101 Logan St. Williamson, Mingo County, West Virginia.
This health consultation reviewed sample data from several private water
wells and a spring in the Lick Creek, Rawl, Sprigg and Merrimac areas of
Mingo County. A cooperative agreement with the Agency for Toxic Substances
and Disease Registry ATSDR, Atlanta, Georgia, and the WVDHHR funded this
public health assessment.
For more information call Barbara Smith at the West Virginia ATSDR
Cooperative Partners Program (304) 558-6779.
