Women’s commission quarterly meeting coming up

The West Virginia Women’s Commission will be conducting its second quarterly meeting of the fiscal year. The meeting will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. at Stonewall Jackson Resort in Roanoke, WV.

The meeting is open to the public and will feature guest speaker Sharon Weaver, an economic development specialist with the United States Small Business Administration.

Weaver will discuss the challenges facing women in small business and will offer information on accessing capital, federal procurement and start-up opportunities for women wishing to enter into their own business adventures.

Other items on the agenda include a report by the executive director, unfinished business from the last meeting, any new business that is brought up at the meeting as well as guest feedback.

The West Virginia Women’s Commission, an office of the Department of Health and Human Resources, is an advocate for and partner with the women of West Virginia, working to create opportunities for equality and empowerment through advocacy, research, education and consensus building. The Commission exists to foster women’s economic, educational, political, and social development, to ensure their full participation in society and to recognize the achievements and accomplishments of state women.
