School clothing allowance distribution set for July 6th - 9th
With the start of the new school year just around the
corner, many parents begin planning for their children's upcoming school
year during the early days of summer. Purchasing clothing or material to
make clothing is an integral part of that planning and important to starting
the school year out in a good manner.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Division of
Family Assistance, will begin distribution of clothing vouchers in mid-July
to qualified families who currently receive WV WORKS cash assistance. The
families who do not currently receive cash assistance have already started
submitting applications for the 2005-2006 school clothing allowance program
and have income below 100 percent of the current Federal Poverty Income
Level.
Each voucher is good toward the purchase of clothing or piece goods for
those families that desire to sew clothing for their children. Certain
eligibility requirements exist. Families who wish to apply can contact their
local DHHR office or call toll free 1-800-642-8589 to request an application
be mailed to them. The deadline for new applications is July 31, and school
clothing allowance vouchers must be redeemed at participating stores by
October 31, 2005.
Applications may also be made online through inROADS at
http://www.wvinroads.org.
