DHHR to sponsor pastoral crisis management training
The Department of Health and Human Resources is sponsoring a two-day training course dealing with critical incident stress management (CISM) as related to pastoral crisis management.
The training will be conducted June 16 and 17, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily, at the Days Inn located in Flatwoods. The instructor is Chaplain Charles E. Woods, Lt. Col., U.S. armed forces, who is a certified CISM instructor as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Master Addictions Counselor (MAC).
The course will be of special interest to anyone working in the areas of pastoral counseling, crisis intervention, emergency services, mental health, traumatic stress and disaster mental health. All individuals interested in the use of faith-based resources in healing during critical times of stress should find this course of particular interest.
The course is open to all interested individuals and is free of charge. Participants who complete the course will receive an International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) certificate as well as 13 credit hours in one of the following disciplines: social work, counseling, psychology or law enforcement.
