The retreat is scheduled to take place at the Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa in Morgantown. In September 2001 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funded the Bureau for public Health to develop, implement and evaluate a statewide strategic plan to address asthma in the state. In 2001, West Virginia ranked fifth in the U.S. in asthma prevalence. The BPH has since partnered with the American Lung Association of West Virginia and the West Virginia Asthma Coalition to assist with the project. The retreat will allow for presentations from asthma partners as well as work on the strategic plan. The WVAC welcomes individuals interested in becoming new partners to fight the asthma epidemic in West Virginia.
