Running a child care center is the same as running a small business. The successful child care manager wears many hats: early childhood educator, business manager, fiscal administrator, safety and health officer, and building architect, among others. Payment rates for children participating in the State subsidy program are based on the age of the child, and the number of hours and days the child is in care.  Generally, payment for infants through 24 months is $24.00 per child per day, for four or more hours of child care. Generally, children ages 2 to 13 years of age is $18.00 for four or more hours of child care. These rates are for licensed child care centers. These rates do not apply to unlicensed school-age care or  child care facilities.
