Provisions
Family Child Care is child care provided for the children of working parents in the home of a family day care provider. In order to be listed as a provider with Choices, providers must be registered with the Dept. of Health and Human Resources. Registered providers certify that they meet certain standards for health and safety in their homes, and offer supervised activities for children. No home may have more than 6 children at any time and no more than 2 children under 2 years of age at any time. Provider's own children of ages 6 and under are counted in these ratios.
Payment Rates
Subsidy payment rates for registered family day care providers are based on the age of the child being cared for. Payments for four or more hours of care for infants through age 59 months is $20.00 per day. For children 60 months up to 13 years of age, payment is $16.00 for four or more hours. Payment is pro-rated for less than four hours of care. For 12 or more hours on weekdays, or care that is 4 or more hours on Saturdays and Sundays, called "non-traditional" hours, providers are paid an additional $4 per child per day. For a child who has documented special needs providers are paid an additional $2 per child per day.
Feel free to contact Choices if you have questions regarding payment rates for subsidized children.
