About Us
The Smoke-free Initiative of West Virginia is
an organization funded and operated by the West Virginia Division of Tobacco
Prevention, a division of the West Virginia Department of Health & Human
Resources. Our mission is to educate state and local officials and
the general public about secondhand smoke and its associated issues.
We advocate policies that will reduce, and ultimately eliminate, secondhand
smoke exposure in West Virginia.
The Smoke-Free Initiative of West Virginia was
established in 2000 and has assisted many local boards of health in passing new
or updated clean indoor air regulations. We serve as a liaison between
smoke-free advocacy groups, provide the latest information about tobacco issues,
and offer guidance in creating smoke-free regulations. Our office is located in
the Monongalia County Health Department in Morgantown.

Representatives are also available to make presentations to smoke-free advocacy groups in your community.
