WV Birth to Three is pleased to announce the
March 2013 Webinar schedule!
Orientation to WV Birth to Three (3 Contact Hours)
Participants will learn the legal and philosophical foundations of Part C of IDEA, how early intervention is implemented in West Virginia, and expectations for practitioners providing services within WV Birth to Three. The training includes an overview of family centered services, the IFSP process, procedural safeguards (family rights), required system components, personnel standards, and enrollment procedures.

Do you support and infant and toddler who is experiencing developmental delays in hearing and vision; has a diagnosed medical condition that has a high probability of resulting in developmental delays in hearing and vision; or who is at-risk of having substantial delays in hearing or vision if early intervention services are not provided? If so, please join us to learn more about the services offered through the WV SenseAbilities Project. The SenseAbilities Project provides technical assistance to help teams problem solve for children and links families to other families through a newsletter and annual conference.

Participants will learn the background for the current emphasis on outcomes measurement in early childhood and specifically under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Participants will also gain increased understanding of the purpose of an outcomes measurement system, and the purpose and use of the Child Outcome Summary Form (COSF) as it relates to measuring individual child progress and the WV Birth to Three System?s ability to achieve broader systemic outcomes for individual children and families.

The Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) is the cornerstone of the early intervention process and is a reflection of the partnership between the family and their early intervention team. During the IFSP process, family members are offered an opportunity to identify their strengths, concerns, priorities, and resources related to enhancing their child's development through a family centered interview. This webinar will provide an overview of the importance of the family perspective in enhancing the child's development and meeting family outcomes.

Help Me Grow
Join us in celebrating the release of Help Me Grow - West Virginia. Help Me Grow is a comprehensive, statewide, coordinated system for early identification and referral of children for developmental and behavioral problems. A project of the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health, Help Me Grow provides families centralized telephone access to developmental screening and follow up using the ASQ:3. Come learn about the project and how WV Birth to Three plans to partner with this very exciting project.
Camp Gizmo
Camp Gizmo is a unique summer event designed to promote inclusion for young children with disabilities through the use of assistive technology. Camp Gizmo staff, local early intervention and school teams, college students and families come together from across West Virginia to learn about assistive technology (AT) and to explore ways to help each child to fully participate in daily activities and routines at home, in the classroom and in the community. Join us as we learn more about how you and the families you serve can get involved

What is a Community of Practice? A Community of Practice is designed to provide a framework for WV Birth to Three practitioners from across the state to share information, skills and knowledge.
What happens in a Community of Practice? Members of the Community of Practice learn together through topical webinars and readings, sharing knowledge and experiences, reflecting on their own knowledge and skills, and supporting each other in making changes to evidenced based practices.This first Community of Practice will be an opportunity for practitioners to share ideas and to plan next steps. If you are new to Birth to Three and in need of a way to learn from other practitioners or been with us for years and want a forum to share ideas and support others, please join us for this planning webinar. All you need to do is sign up for the Community of Practice for your discipline or profession. If you do not see your discipline or profession, please look in the upcoming months.
