The purpose of the Office of Consumer Affairs and Community Outreach within the Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities (BHHF) is to support BHHF in developing resilience and recovery initiatives within the Bureau.
Activities of the Office of Consumer Affairs and Community Outreach include:
• Outreach to people with disabilities in West Virginia
• Link and refer individuals to mental health and addiction treatment providers
• Tracking, monitoring, and reporting to BHHF on legislative activities
• Disaster coordination assisting community partners in the event of a disaster
• Development and operation of the BHHF Commissioner’s Consumer Advisory Council
• Coordination of BHHF training opportunities in the community
• Research and circulate information on evidence-based and emerging best practices
• Develop health promotion and wellness campaigns
• Research and apply for high priority discretionary grants
• Centralized response to requests for assistance and grievances related to the receipt of publically funded behavioral health services
