Do foster families have to take every child they are called about?

A social worker will share the available information about the child and his or her needs with you. If you do not believe your family would be able to meet this child’s needs, then you may decline the placement. The exception is emergency shelter care homes where immediate placement is necessary. However, problems regarding a placement are addressed as soon as possible.
