Do I have to stay in a homeless shelter?

If a contract shelter is available, this resource must be used. In very limited and unique circumstances, a shelter setting may not be available or suitable to meet the shelter needs of the individual/family. In these instances temporary shelter in an apartment, hotel, etc. may be considered and if authorized, the need for alternate arrangements must be documented in the service plan.
