Can the DHHR help with payment for placement of an adult in a residential setting?

Yes, in certain situations the Department of Health and Human Resources may assist with payment for the cost of care. In order for DHHR to provide payment, all of the following must apply:

1) the incapacitated adult was placed by DHHR or the placement was approved, in advance, by DHHR,

2) placement is in an Adult Emergency Shelter Home, Adult Family Care Home, Residential Board and Care Home or Personal Care Home,

3) the placement setting must be appropriately licensed/certified

4) the provider is willing to accept the amount of payment authorized by DHHR, and

5) the adult being placed does not have sufficient resources to pay for their cost of care
