Apply for CHIP online using West Virginia inROADS!West Virginia Children's Health Insurance Program is a statewide program to help children of working parents get the necessary and preventive health care they need to grow into strong, healthy adults. There are two phases to WV CHIP. The first phase gives health care coverage to children ages 1 through 5 years using the WV Medicaid Program. The second phase gives health care coverage to children ages 6 through 18 years using the Public Employees Insurance Agency.

Children between the ages of 1 through 18 who do not have health insurance and are in families who have monthly incomes at or below the income listed in the chart below are eligible for CHIP. Your child's eligibility for this program is based only on your child's lack of health insurance and the family's income. You can own your own home or car and still get health care coverage for your child through this program. Federal guidelines allow CHIP to subtract some of your expenses, like child care payments, from your gross income. So if you are close to the income guidelines for this program, then you are encouraged to make an application and report these expenses.
