It is important to know that your child is well cared for while you are at work or school. You also want the best possible start for your children so they are ready to learn when they start school. The West Virginia Child Care Program can help to make quality child care affordable for low income families.

Paying for child care can be difficult for families as they look for a job, go to work, or go to school to prepare for work. West Virginia's Child Care Program can help pay your child care costs for all children under age 13. Exceptions for children over 13 may be considered and require a special approval. Child care is available for families who participate in the West Virginia Works Program. Assistance is also available to low income working families up to 150% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Child Care costs may pay for the time you work, look for work, or attend training or educational classes. The child care program will not cover all your costs. All families are asked to pay a small fee for services based on your family's income. Contact the Child Care Resource and Referral Agency in your area to find out where you can apply.

There is no limit on how long you may receive child care assistance as long as your income is within the program limit for your family size. To continue to be eligible for child care assistance, you must:
