Terms to Know
- Adult Family Care Home
- A placement setting within a family that provides support, protection and security for up to three individuals over the age of eighteen.
- Adult Family Care Provider
- An individual or family that has been certified by the Department of Health and Human Resources to provide support, supervision and assistance to adults placed in their home for which they receive payment.
- Cognitive deficit
- Impairment of an individuals thought process.
- Emergency
- A situation or set of circumstances which present a substantial and immediate risk of death or serious injury to an incapacitated adult.
- Emergency Shelter Care Home
- A placement setting within a family that provides support, protection and security on an emergency basis for up to thirty days while safe and more permanent arrangements are being made.
- Incapacitated Adult
- Any person who by means of physical mental or other infirmity is unable to independently carry on the daily activities of life necessary to sustaining life and reasonable health.
- Physical Deficit
- Impairment of an individual's physical abilities.
- Residential Board and Care Home
- A residential setting that provides accommodations, personal assistance and supervision for a period of more than twenty-four hours to four or more persons who are not related to the owner/operator and who are dependent on the services of others due to their physical or mental impairment or who may require limited, intermittent nursing care but are capable of self-preservation and are not bedfast
- Personal Care Home
- A residential setting that provides accommodations, personal assistance and supervision for a period of more than twenty-four hours to four or more persons who are dependent on the services of others due to their physical or mental impairment who may require limited, intermittent nursing care.
