Committees of the Board

Executive Committee

Membership: Board officers and one other member of the Board

The Executive Committee shall consist of the officers of the Board plus one other member of the Board, as appointed by the president. The president shall serve as chairman of the committee.

 Management Committee

Membership: Four members

The Management Committee shall consist of four members appointed by the president. The president shall serve as chairman of the committee. The committee shall oversee the day-to-day operation of the Board and shall be responsible for all financial matters with the exception of the setting of fees which, where discretionary under the law, shall be the responsibility of the entire Board.

Legislative Committee

Membership: Three or more members

The Legislative Committee shall consist of three or more members appointed by the president. The president shall designate one member to be chairman of the committee. The committee shall consider all questions bearing upon state and national legislation and shall recommend from time to time such changes in the law as it may deem advisable and, at the direction of the Board, shall take such steps as may further the desire of the Board in matters of legislation.

Complaint Committee

Membership: Three or more members

The Complaint Committee shall consist of three or more members of the Board appointed by the president. The president shall designate one member to be chairman of the committee. Upon receipt of a complaint submitted to the Board, the matter shall be referred to the Complaint Committee for further disposition.

Licensure Committee

The Licensure Committee shall make recommendations to the Board, through the licensing process, that all applicants meet statutory and regulatory requirements for the practice of medicine and podiatry.

Professional Liability Committee

The Professional Liability Committee may initiate investigations on practitioners whenever the Board receives notice that, within a five-year period, three or more judgments or any combination of judgments and settlements resulting in five or more outcomes arising from medical professional liability have been rendered or made against such practitioner.

Physician Assistant Committee

The Physician Assistant Committee shall make recommendations to the Board, through the licensing process, that all applicants meet statutory and regulatory requirements.

Corporate Practice of Medicine Committee

The Corporate Practice of Medicine Committee shall consider all questions relating to medical and podiatry corporations, and professional limited liability companies, and shall make recommendations to the Board.

Other permanent and temporary committees may be appointed by the Board.

Appointments to committees are made by the President of the Board.
