Staff Members and their Responsibilities

Robert C. Knittle, M.S. - Executive Director
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Board of Medicine and administers the day-to-day activities of the Board.

Deborah Lewis Rodecker, J.D. - Counsel
Counsel serves as the legal representative of the Board, offers advice and guidance to the Board, and represents the Board in legal matters.

John K. McHugh, J.D. - Disciplinary Counsel
The Disciplinary Counsel offers advice and guidance to the Complaint Committee and presents cases for administrative hearings on behalf of the Board.

M. Ellen Briggs - Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director
The Executive Director's Administrative Assistant is responsible for correspondence generated by the Executive Director, prepares the Board’s Newsletter, and prepares the Board agenda and minutes.

Leslie A. Higginbotham, CMBI - Investigator
The Investigator is responsible for the investigation of all physicians, podiatrists, and physician assistants licensed in the State and assists the legal Counsel and the Disciplinary Counsel with legal matters.

Michael Lilly - Information Systems Coordinator
The Information Systems Coordinator is responsible for the operation and development of the Board’s network and computer systems, Develops and maintains this website, prepares the Board’s newsletter, and is responsible for disseminating data.

Charlotte Jewell - Physician Assistant Licensure Coordinator
Serves as the Coordinator to the Physician Assistant Committee by processing all applications associated with physician assistant licensure. The Physician Assistant Coordinator verifies the licenses of all physician assistants.

Sheree Smith - Licensure Analyst
The Licensure Analyst processes applications for permanent medical licensure, temporary licensure, podiatry licensure, and the podiatry examination and serves as the Analyst to the Licensure Committee.

Charlotte Ann Pulliam - Complaints Coordinator
The Complaints Coordinator processes complaints filed with the Board and serves as the Coordinator to the Complaint Committee.

Lori Blaney - Paralegal
This position provides paralegal and related support services to the Board's Counsel and the Board's Disciplinary Counsel.

Pennie Price- Receptionist/Certification and Verification Coordinator
The Board's Receptionist answers incoming calls and distributes incoming mail.  The Verification Coordinator verifies the licenses of medical doctors and podiatrists, in addition to processing applications and renewals for medical corporations and professional limited liability companies.

Deb Scott - Fiscal Officer
The Fiscal Officer is responsible for all financial matters of the Board. The Fiscal Officer is also responsible for continuing medical and podiatric education audits and questions.
