Kenneth Dean Wright, P.A.-C
In
December 1998, Governor Underwood appointed Kenneth Dean Wright, P.A.-C to the
Board of Medicine. He was later reappointed by Governor Wise and Governor Manchin to a term ending September 30, 2007. On the fifteen member Board, Mr.
Wright fills the one position which is allocated to a Physician Assistant.
After completing a course in cardiovascular surgery and postoperative
patient management at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Mr. Wright has been
employed in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in Huntington since 1994.
In January of 2005 he joined Marshall University/Joan C. Edwards School of
Medicine’s Department of Cardiovascular Services where he assists the four
surgeons in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Prior to moving to
Huntington, he was the Chief Physician Assistant at Wheeling Hospital for
thirteen years.
Mr. Wright attended Glenville State College in Glenville, West Virginia and
obtained his Physician Assistant / Bachelors of Science Degree from
Alderson-Broaddus College in 1980. He then traveled to Connecticut for a
one year residency at Norwalk Hospital-Yale University Physician Assistant
Surgical Residency Program where he won the Scholastic Award in 1981 from
the Department of Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine. In August
of 2005, he was additionally recognized by the Residency Program with the
presentation of the Scallon Alumni Achievement Award for his many
contributions to the Physician Assistant Profession. He is a member of the
American Academy of Physician Assistants, Association of Physician
Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery and the West Virginia Association of
Physician Assistants. He was named the WVAPA Physician Assistant of the Year
in 2001, the first year that the award was given. Dean resides in Huntington
with his wife Judy, and their six children. |
