Social Work Services
The Social Work Department works closely with the patients to assist with discharge planning, to secure financial help if needed, contact families and arranging follow-up appointments. They work with the community behavioral health centers to provide a continuity of care that maximizes the patients' chance for recovery and long term stability.
The clinical social workers provide individual and group therapy for patients at the hospital. Individual and family therapy are also available to patients based on a referral by the patient's psychiatrist.
In that William R. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital is a teaching facility, the Social Work Department offers field instruction for undergraduate and graduate social work students. A limited number of stipends are available.
