Hib

Description:  An invasive bacterial disease caused by Haemophilus Influenzae type b.

Clinical Features:  This disease may affect many organ systems. The most common types of invasive disease are meningitis, epiglottitis, pneumonia, arthritis, and cellulitis.

Transmission:   Primary mode is presumably by respiratory droplet spread, although firm evidence for this mechanism is lacking.

Vaccine:   Hib vaccine can prevent this disease.
